Jennifer Cochran- NLGL Creative Synthesis
Synthesis of Learning
In conclusion, the knowledge, experiences, and empowerment I received in this program will help me better support and inspire my students and my instruction. Prior to starting this program, I knew very little about how to appeal and connect with my students who did not like to read. Now, I am able to utilize strategies and different technological tools to engage my students in reading texts that are appropriate and interesting to them. Providing differentiated instruction in the classroom allows for the curriculum to reach my students at a level where they are comfortable, as opposed to struggling through a curriculum because it is the “expectation”. My students have become more responsible for their learning and are more equipped to discuss their learning outcomes because I have taken the time to differentiate my literacy instruction and truly understand the way my students learn.
I am excited to move forward and help other educators understand and differentiate their literacy instruction. I am looking forward to empowering my future students to take charge of their learning and work through the curriculum using projects and different tools that allow their growth and success to shine! I have changed as an educator because of this program and feel very fortunate to be able to take this knowledge to help others see the benefits and positive effects of differentiated instruction with literacy learning.
